Việt Nam congratulates Roberto Azevêdo on his re-election as Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for the 2017-21 term, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Hải Bình said on Thursday.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam congratulates Roberto Azevêdo on his re-election as Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for the 2017-21 term, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Hải Bình said on Thursday.

Bình said the re-election demonstrates WTO members’ recognition of Azevêdo’s contributions to the multilateral trading system during the last term.

Việt Nam believes Azevêdo will continue to promote the system and the role of the WTO, while ensuring the interests of and increasing technical assistance to developing members of the organisation, including Việt Nam, he added. — VNS
